Hot sizzlings of beef and pork could be heard amongst the talk and laughter of the hundreds of hungry attendees eager to test and decide who could make the best barbecue in the northeastern corner of the Marcellus Shale. Early morning fog and the chilly, crisp air gave way to a warm sunny sky, reflecting the transition of the seasons as summer changes to autumn. It was quite a brilliant day to spend outside, which could not have been more perfect for the ninth annual Green Career Day held at Mt. Pisgah State Park. (read more)
It has been no secret that natural gas has been gaining steam as a key energy source since the Marcellus Shale boom began. Natural gas has long been regarded as the cleanest of the fossil fuels, and with the Marcellus Shale exploration, it is now growing more affordable and as abundant as ever. Because of those factors, compressed natural gas (CNG) has been gaining momentum just as quickly in recent years, especially as a vehicular fuel. It recently took another stride as some of the same local companies that provide natural gas to peoples’ homes are now beginning to use the fuel themselves in their own operations. (read more)
